How do I know it will fit?
The gentle rule: allow one cubic inch of capacity for each pound of their healthy body weight. A standard adult urn — about 200 cubic inches — fits most adults. When in doubt, size up; extra room is never a problem.
Who transfers the ashes into the urn?
You never have to do this yourself. Your funeral home or crematory will transfer them with care, usually at no charge — have the urn delivered there, or bring it in. At home it is simpler than families expect: ashes arrive in a sealed inner bag that can often be placed inside whole.
Can we travel or fly with the urn?
Yes, with planning. TSA screens urns and requires a container that can be x-rayed — wood and bamboo urns typically scan well, while some metal urns cannot and may need to travel another way. Airlines have their own policies too, so call ahead. We are glad to help you plan the trip.
Can the urn be sealed permanently?
The lid closes securely on its own. If you wish it sealed for good — before burial, for example — a small bead of household adhesive on the threads makes it permanent.
Can ashes be shared among family?
Yes, and many families do. Keepsake urns and cremation jewelry each hold a small portion, so several loved ones can keep them close.
